Start and finish times:


Monday - Friday 9:30 - 17:00



Please be aware the first morning will be a slower start and will include:


Welcome coffees and teas,

Paperwork, signing in risk assessment and inductions,

Introductory presentations,

Site tour,

and much more.

By Car:



From the direction of Mansfield:




From Edwinstowe:


Head South through Edwinstowe village on the B6034.

On leaving the village at the cross-roads (Robin Hood Pub) turn right onto the B6030.

Continue into Kings Clipstone.  

Drive through the centre of the village and follow the road as it rises steeply to the left. At the top of the hill turn into the entrance to Castle Field via a farm gate.

On entering the field, drive in and follow the route to the left over the hill to the Green Tin Building on the far side of the field as shown above.



From the north - via A1 southbound:


Turn off the A1 at the junction for Ollerton Worksop and Sherwood Forest.

At the Roundabout follow the A614 south to Ollerton.

Continue until the turning for Kings (old) Clipstone on the B6030.

Continue into Kings Clipstone.  

Drive through the centre of the village and follow the road as it rises steeply to the left. At the top of the hill turn into the entrance to Castle Field via a farm gate.

On entering the field, drive in and follow the route to the left over the hill to the Green Tin Building on the far side of the field as shown above.



Heading North from Nottingham:


Follow the A614, after passing Rufford Abbey turn left onto the B6034 to Edwinstowe.

At the crossroads before Edwinstowe (Robin Hood Pub) turn left onto the B6030.

Follow the B6030 into Kings Clipstone. Drive through the centre of the village and follow the road as it rises steeply to the left. At the top of the hill turn into the entrance to Castle Field via a farm gate.

On entering the field, drive in and follow the route to the left over the hill to the Green Tin Building on the far side of the field as shown above.

By Bus:


The following bus routes are listed as guidance only. You can search online for buses to Kings Clipstone (if having problems try also ‘Old Clipstone’. (Mercian are not responsible for any changes to the times or routes listed below- please check for yourself well in advance.

Health and Safety:



At Mercian we take Health and Safety very seriously.

A copy of the Risk Assessment for the Fieldschool will be available online soon. Please ensure that you read this and inform us that you have done so via email at info@mercian-as.co.uk before attending the course (we will email people to remind them).

We will also go through the risk assessment on arrival to ensure everyone has read and understood, and there will be site talks and tool box talks before you enter the site.

Reading the Risk Assessment in advance and familiarising yourself with it will enable a smooth induction on the first morning.

Accommodation:


Mercian do not recommend accommodation for the field course and cannot be held responsible for any accommodation booked in order to attend the field course.


We do recommend for logistical purposes that you consider staying close to the site.


A search for accommodation online in Edwinstowe and Kings Clipstone will provide links to a wide variety of accommodation types ranging from camping to hotels and BnBs to Pubs and Guesthouses.
